Even though it appears early in the book, this was actually the last story I completed for the collection. I was almost out of story ideas and wondered just what the hell I’d write about. I exchanged a few emails with Phil and he told me what he did for a living. All of the sudden, I had this image of a man on top of a telephone pole, with the worms all around and the waters rising. I wrote all three drafts in a single night.
